Bob and Nan Simpkins of Milpitas, California have been camping most of their 29 married years. Starting with tents, they graduated all the way to motorhomes by 1991. They enjoyed their 93 American Eagle so much that when presented with the opportunity to buy their current 95 model, they quickly did. (and they look forward to the next purchase, the 98 model).
Typically, Bob and Nan camp alone with their dog "Snuggles" and three weekends per month they are in the coach going somewhere. Seldom is anything planned, each Friday night after work, Bob picks Nan up and they take off on a whirlwind adventure.
Under consideration for the back of the coach was a beautiful snow covered mountain scene. Above all else they wanted something American. The most beautiful and scenic picture Nan had ever seen was Mt Rushmore. They agreed, so a unique and patriotic subject for the motor home artwork had been decided.
Bob had seen an ad in the American Coach Club newsletter about the artist "Letterfly" and called to ask if it would be a good idea to put Mt Rushmore on the back of their coach. The artist met this inquiry with exuberance and sent this active couple some information and some photos of other painted motor coach masterpieces. They planned to meet at an upcoming rally. The work began on the first day after their arrival. Bob had secured a picture of the monument for the artist to work from. The surface of the coach was cleaned and scuffed. The arrangement was to not only include four famous faces but also to involve two majestic eagles in flight. The depiction of this awe inspiring national monument was accomplished in lacquers and when complete it received the protective shiny urethane clear coat that is the signet of a quality job.
Now as Bob and Nan travel the highways and byways of this big beautiful country they have this majestic scene to remind people of their patriotism and the beauty of this country.
